Johann Gyver of Alter Ego Handcrafted Motorcycles has begun collaboration with the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council in an endeavor to raise money for the arts community. One might think that “motorcycle” and Oro Valley seem an unlikely partnership. However, the artistry Johann combines with his expertise in custom motorcycle designs is an exceptional fit with GOVAC for his second project in a series of what he hopes to be an annual mission---to craft a custom built motorcycle to be raffled off for charity. The first such project Johann was involved with raised over $200,000 for the nonprofit Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation in South Dakota.

Through donating his time and labor, and offering sponsorships and promotional opportunities to both local and national organizations and suppliers, Johann hopes to not only raise money, but raise awareness in the importance of giving back to the community. Johann will be filming and documenting the process on web cast, which will follow the progress of the project from beginning to end, including a charity ride through the state upon completion of the bike. This ride will be open to those wishing to accompany Johann in raising awareness for the project. But the dream does not stop there. Johann wants to take it to the next level and create a television series to bring worthy causes to national attention.

Seeking to break down stereotypes and build bridges between cultures is a large part of the artistry of Johann’s dream.

GOVAC’s Mission Statement says:

“The Greater Oro Valley Arts Council is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life… by promoting and sustaining the arts culture of our community…With arts and artistic expression central to the human experience… we seek extolling and encouraging the creative spirit throughout the community…”

Johann couldn’t agree more…and he’s creating a motorcycle to prove it.
